Alerion Fest 2007

The San Francisco Alerion Express 28 Fleet, aka Fleet One, get together several times a year, with the Alerion Fest being the highlight of the year! Held in October, local Alerion Express owners get together for some fun sails, seminars and lively conversation as we swap tales and advice about these fine yachts. In 2007, we sailed North to East Brother Light Station for a beautiful photo opportunity of the whole Alerion fleet.

Alerion Fest 2008 will be held at the Richmond Yacht Club on October 18 and 19th.

Becca, Matt & Nicholas Visit Ariel

Lucky Lady Ariel got to go out during the week last Thursday when she got a surprise visit from Becca, Matt & Nicholas. By all reports, Nicholas has a bright future before him as a Sea Captain if he so wishes!

Ariel Visits Gitana 13 at the Corinthian Yacht Club

Here's a video of our Sunday sail on our Alerion Express 28, Ariel to see Gitana 13 after her record breaking Route D'Or from New York to San Francisco around Cape Horn. The Clipper Ship record was held by Flying Cloud from 1853 to 1989 when the Lars Bergstrom designed Open 60 Thursday's Child made the voyage in 80 days. The Flying Cloud's Clipper Ship record held for 136 years. Gitana 13 just made the 16,000 mile trip in 43 days.

Chuck, Deb, Antonia & Diane sailed up through Raccoon Straits, and twirled around Gitana 13 a couple of times in front of the Corinthian YC, where the Lightn Up crew found us... It was nice to see them for a few seconds before they disappeared over the horizon... leaving us to eat their wake as usual. Just remember, you may be faster than us, but Ariel had a better ratio of women to men, and that makes up for alot!
